We are looking for a professional Shop (Boutique) Manager (m/f) with great experience in managing retail outlets either on land or at sea for a well known 4**** European Cruise Line with international passengers and great itineraries throughout the world.

The ships are currently home-ported in Bridgetown Barbados for round-trips in the Caribbean. They are as well cruising to the ports of Martinique, Dominica, Guadeloupe, St Lucia, St Vincent and Grenada & many more!

The ideal candidate must have 3-4 years of retail management background and have an excellent knowledge in his field and should work for the satisfaction of the guest under the requirements and standards of the cruise company.

Basic requirements:

  • College Diploma or equivalent work experience.
  • Effective working skills on Word, Lotus Notes and Excel programs.
  • Possesses strong retail merchandising skills.
  • Proven track record of exceeding sales goals.
  • Ability to foster and develop team environments.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment.

You should have the following personal characteristics:

Fluent in English is a must – other European languages would be a big plus.

The appropriate candidate must have fluent command of English language.

Should be highly motivated and prepared to integrate him/herself into a multinational crew as well as to suit the sometimes demanding yachting industry standards.

He/She will have experience and the ability to manage galley staff and must be competent to provide owners with highest standard cuisine.

He/She will be responsible for provision planning, creation of daily menus and must be flexible and creative to adjust dishes and menus as per owners requests.

Sporadic catering for the reception of high profile VIP’s and formal dining. A motivated – Hands-On Chef is needed !  … not someone who is used to lead and delegate only and must be quite flexible with regards to reaction upon owners wish.

Skills & Education:

You are responsible for the Hotel operation, including coordinating and leading the Hotel Department Heads on board. The Hotel Manager must be hands on during peak services and through presence and actions being an example to and ensure the team delivers the product as set out in the company´s Product plan is delivered smoothly and flawlessly. Together with the Ships Management he/she coordinates and executes onboard safety, environmental and maintenance procedures.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for the entire service operation onboard
  • Supervision/support of a professional welcoming and sales orientated Guest Service in accordance with S.T.A.R. Service Experience.
  • Menu layout / Menu approval, Buffet presentation
  • Ensuring absolute cleanliness and order in accordance with HACCP rules
  • Planning all Entertainment and Shop/Concessionaire’s events with Department Heads.
  • Controlling sale of shore excursions, future Cruise sales and tour dispatches
  • Management and motivation of the service crew
  • Provide visible leadership by example.
  • Align crew attitudes to corporate objectives.
  • Ensure appropriate crew training is carried out on an ongoing basis.
  • Employ contemporary management techniques to ensure all employees are motivated to provide exemplary customer service.
  • Vacation planning, Internal promotions
  • Responsible for cost control and adherence to set budgets
  • Accounting, Payroll, Cruise closing.
  • Food cost control, Control of Bars and Inventory/Store control.
  • Clearance of the vessel and Embarkation.
  • Active liaison with guests
  • Provide visible leadership by example while interacting with guests in all areas
  • Conduction of daily menu presentation in coordination with the Executive Chef

 

YOUR PROFILE

  • Diploma from international recognized hotel school or university.
  • Min. 5 years Hotel Manager or Food & Beverage Manager on 5-star ship.
  • Completed appropriate HR training, craft training or equivalent
  • Excellent English skills in both writing and speech, other languages a plus
  • Service oriented and guest focused
  • Excellent management, organizational and communication skills
  • Flexibility and stress resistance, team player, commitment, positive personality, professional appearance
